APLUS FLASH
TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES EMBEDDED EEPROM IP LICENSING PARTNERSHIP WITH SMIC
San Jose, California,
February 27, 2003 - Aplus Flash Technology, a
leader in nonvolatile memory, recently signed an agreement with SMIC, the
first full-service 8" semiconductor foundry in China, to serve as an
embedded EEPROM IP provider. The agreement was signed in the last quarter
of 2002, with both companies now promoting the licensing availability of
the EEPROM IP after completion of design and verification.
Aplus' embedded EEPROM IP is offered based on SMIC's 0.35um EEPROM technology
in densities from 1KB to 64KB. The design and verification for the embedded
EEPROM IP library were completed earlier this year.
Testing and verification results have been positive with fully functional
wafers. The embedded EEPROM IP offers operating voltages from 2.5V to
5.5V with chip erase, chip write and page write capabilities, and is ideal
for 3V and 5V applications. The next chips to be completed this April
are targeted to work down to 1.8V to expand the voltage application range
for SMIC's and Aplus' EEPROM customers. Aplus also offers customized IP
designs for ASICS, DSPs, CPUs, etc.
SMIC's and Aplus' combination of embedded EEPROM IP and foundry services
gives customers flexible embedded EEPROM solutions for applications needing
low-density in-system reprogrammability, such as smart cards, etc. Of
the major foundries, many only offer EEPROM in 0.5um technologies and
above with no embedded EEPROM IP available. Jointly, SMIC and Aplus offer
a convenient solution for customers needing both cost-effective IP and
wafers.
With many more embedded NVM IPs available and next generation technology
under development, Aplus is firmly establishing itself as a premier NVM
IP and memory provider. Aplus offers proven, experienced designs that
can be customized to fit each customer's needs with quick turnaround and
manufacturing flexibility and capacity.
About Aplus Flash Technology:
